The innovations found in the Look 795 AeroLight Frameset are also on the Light. The only difference being the brakes. The Light version has mounts for conventional brakes; as in a hole in the fork crown to mount the brake in front and a seat stay brake bridge for the brake in the rear. This is, interestingly, the version the Look-sponsored Cofidis team races, as the conventional brakes make roadside wheel changes easier in the heat of a WorldTour race.
What they still get is an amazing aero road bike. As Look is supremely interested in ride quality, they made sure that the bike would be comfortable to ride in races 260km in length. Many times, the person who wins is the freshest in the final hour. Look does this first by designing the bike with fairly traditional road geometry, then by adding some vertical give to the fork, and then insulating the seat post from the rest of the frame. The E-Post 2, a top on an integrated mast, comes with elastomers so that the junction of the post and frame is entirely insulated????o direct contact. This way, vibrations that find their way to the mast are stopped by the elastomers before reaching your saddle. This E-Post is designed to work both with conventional railed saddles and Selle Italia Monolink saddles????oth clamps come with.
The frame tubes are dominated by NACA ((National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics) airfoil shapes. The head tube, down tube, seat tube, seat mast, seat stays, are all tugged into these slippery shapes, while still fitting within the UCI's strictures. In some cases, the shapes mean added weight, but by working new carbon-fiber plies into the equation, Look was able to come up with a frameset that is super-light and easy to build into a sub-15lb race machine. And with the integrated stem, headset, and integrated internal cable routing (mechanical or electric for shifting, mechanical or hydraulic for braking), The bike presents little extra to the wind. The only thing slowing the frame down is the conventional brake mounts, but considering that the AeroLight is among the most aero of road bikes, the penalty here is minimal. The AeroLight 795 matches the fastest aero road bikes on the market; the penalty of the conventional brakes puts them minimally behind this pack.
The Look 795 Light Frameset is a road racer that is cutting edge fast, easy to work on, and traditionally comfortable.
